The mission of TeensLead, LLC is to connect New Orleans area high school students with service hour requirements for graducation with beautification and service projects in New Orleans. We are the bridge between those needing to earn volunteer service hours and those with projects needing volunteer support. TeensLead is especially interested in supporting revitalization projects in neighborhoods throughout New Orleans devistated by hurricane Katrina.
We are a student formed and student run organization. We seek to develop leadership skills in high school students. We learn leadership skills by doing -- one revitalization project at a time.
We intend to reach our service connection and leadership goals in three ways:
1) Connecting local high school students with service projects in New Orleans. Most New Orleans high school students require service hours to complete their high school education. TeensLead will connect those with service hours with those in need of help so that student service hours are best used for maximum benefit and not wasted.
2) Connecting incoming volunteers to New Orleans with different service projects in New Orleans. These projects will assist in the recovery of New Orleans, after the damage caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This aspect of TeensLead will properly educate volunteers about society and community life in Post-Katrina New Orleans.
3) Developing individual leadership skills. Through separate service projects and leadership training provided by the YMCA, TeensLead will assist teenagers in developing leadership skills and increase personal desire for community activism and involvement.
