How do I volunteer for a service project?

Volunteering for a service project is easy.  Check the Calendar of Events on the Home page of this website for a project that interests you.  Click on the service project on the Calendar that interests you.  Contact the service provider directly to see if they still need help or support.  Follow their directions and provide the support.

Is there an easy way to hear about new projects added to the TeensLead Calendar without having to check in on the website all the time?

Yes, if you give us your email address, we will notify you every time a new project is added to the Calendar so you are kept up to date about latest service projects. We will never sell, rent, share, etc. your confidential email information with anyone, and you can always easily remove yourself from this email list with the simple click of one button at the bottom of every email alert.

How do I get credit toward my high school service hours requirement?

Every school has different service requirements.  Contact whoever coordinates the hours at your school to find out how you can get service hour requirements for TeensLead projects.

Can I pick and choose what projects I want to do?

Yes, you can pick and choose what projects you want to do.  Plus, we will update daily our Calendar of projects on our homepage.  Check in regularly, or sign up for free email notifications, so you can be sure pick and choose whichever projects you want.

Can my friends from another school work with me on these projects?  Will they get credit for this service, even if they aren't from my school?

Yes, your friends from your school (or other schools) can volunteer with you on these projects.  The more volunteers, the better!  Your friends will have to talk to their school's volunteer coordinator to see if the project meets their requrements for earning service hours, though.

Do the service projects have to be in the Broadmoor neighborhood only?

No, we hope to work with all neighborhoods working toward the recovery of New Orleans.

Can I get my service project on the calendar?

Yes, you can get your service projects on the Calendar for FREE.  Register your project(s) here!  Once it is on the calendar, TeensLead will email volunteers directly about this new project and encourage them to get in touch with you directly about supporting your project.

Do you have to be a neighborhood organization to get help?

No, we work with any person or organization interested in recruiting volunteers to help in the recovery of New Orleans.

Do you have to be a non-profit organization to get free student help?

No, we will work with any person or organization that is working to rebuild New Orleans.  Preference is given, however, to non-profit neighborhood associations working to rebuild and beautify their neighborhoods.

Does it cost anything to get the student volunteer help?

No, but if you would like to donate money, contact Bradley here.  Also, we recommend that you provide water, refreshments, and bathrooom services for your project.  If you really want to get a large turnout, hold your project for half a day on Saturday (9-12) and serve free lunch (pizza).  No better way to get to a high school student's heart than through their stomach.

Do you have to be a student to volunteer to help?

No, we love all volunteers.  Young, old, native New Orleaneans and out of towners.  All are welcome.  Please help!

Can my church group and out-of-state volunteers help with a service project?

Absolutely, one of the main points of our mission is to work with out of town youth, church, and school groups.  We will help coordinate your projects, find lodging, and help you be a part of the city's recovery.

Who runs this organization?
